Shrunken Head JFF

SHRUNKEN HEAD ZBRUSH JFF

This is an old project that I did just for fun. It was based off of a tutorial that I saw online. I liked the idea of a shrunken head they have always been a lil fascinating to me, maybe its the Islander Headhunter in me.  I know…weird. ~10.05.20

ZBrush and Photoshop

SCULPT

Shrunken Head 1

It all starts here…

First we need a head to shrink…any takers?

Shrunken Head 2

Let the shrinking begin!

Then we start to age and “shrink” the head.

PAINTING

Shrunken Head 3

Started to paint the head 1

I started the usual way of painting the base coat with the usual flesh tones. I found this somewhat difficult because I have never seen old “rotting” flesh, so I looked at lots of “horror” art  reference, I started to add green tones and purples for bruising.

Head paint cont.

In the end I went a heavier with the dark colors to indicate where the blood would pool.

FINAL THOUGHTS

There could be loads more done to this project:
– like finer sculpting
– different materials on the thread and piercings
– perhaps some more aging
– different colors in the paint to indicate more rot.
but as a Just For Fun project, I felt it was “ok” to leave it as is.  Who knows I could go back and work on it more because an artists work is only really done when the artist is in his/her grave!
